Chartridge - More about game farms
The 1901 census for Chartridge lists no less than four pheasant breeders in Chartridge parish:
- George Evans, Maple Tree Farm
- Frederick and George Dwight, Great Pednor Farm
- James Rodwell, Chartridge Green Farm
- George Darvill - the name of the farm is not given but the 1903 Kelly's Directory lists George Darvill as a farmer at Lime Tree Farm
The 1904 Amersham Union land valuation includes sporting land at Cherry Tree Farm, owned by Arthur L. Liberty.
Thomas Turner de Fraine started Bucks Game Farms before WWI at Chartridge Farm and this was continued by his son John Turner de Fraine until WWII.
