Almost all the exterior decoration is complete. The doors are in the workshop having their 'roses and castles' painted - although in our case it's 'stars and castles'.

Galley, varnishedSaloon curtain
All the interior woodwork has been varnished and curtain rails and door handles are all in place. The curtains are made and ready to be hung. The solid fuel stove is in place in the Saloon, although not the chimney. The 12 volt electrical system is working and we had a chance to try out the light switches and light fittings this weekend. Just one additional light was required in a dark corner and we decided to have a brighter light fitted in the bathroom. The light switches and power points are on a wooden moulding just above the gunwhale and all the ceiling light fittings are recessed to avoid bumped heads.

The Saloon lights can be switched on just inside the bow door, so we won't have to grope around in the dark after a night out. All the electrical circuits have breakers on a control panel at the rear of the boat.

Registration number

Next week the boat will be craned into the canal - we are keeping our fingers (and toes) crossed that all goes well - and the week after we hope to be aboard and steering away into the sunset!
