Seven Stars Diary - apr-jun 2000

Seven Stars is currently being built by Reading Marine Ltd at Aldermaston Wharf, near Reading, Berkshire. This is a picture diary of the boat's construction and fit out. Bookmark the diary index page so that you can come back at regular intervals to check progress.

After a long wait, the bulkheads are at last installed. The inside of the boat is beginning to take shape - individual pieces of furniture can be seen (the right hand picture shows the base of the L-shaped seat in the Saloon). Fittings are starting to appear in the Bathroom and on the outside of the boat.

wardrobe/cupboard shellThe wardrobe and cupboards in the Bedroom have been installed. The fixed double bed is next and will fill the empty space in the foreground of this picture.

The colour scheme has been chosen and the materials ordered. Click here to see samples of the carpet, curtains and upholstery material.

bed with slide-outFurniture continues to emerge inside the boat. The fixed double bed with its slide out extension has been built and looks very neat.

Soon Seven Stars will receive several coats of paint in preparation for its finishing decoration. Inside, the extensive carpentry work continues and work begins on installing the 'mechanicals'. From an original estimated launch date in June we have had to accept a later date in mid-July. However, work is continuing apace and we are pleased with the quality so far. We would rather be philosophical about this (relatively) small delay and not 'spoil the ship for a ha'porth o' tar'.
